Asymmetric Septal Hypertrophy
This patient demonstrated abnormal echoes which were present in the pulmonic valve echocardiogram during systole, in the right ventricular outflow tract in systole and diastole, and more inferiorly in the right ventricular cavity in diastole. The tricuspid valve appeared normal. These findings suggested the presence of a tumor high in the right ventricle, which traversed the pulmonic orifice in...
متن کاملAsymmetric Septal Hypertrophy and Myocardial Fiber Disarray
The specificity and significance of the asymmetric septal hypertrophy (ASH) and myocardial fiber disarray of idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (IHSS) is uncertain. To examine this we studied 215 hearts, including normal embryos, fetuses, children, and adults; and hearts with congenital and acquired disease. Disproportionate septal thickening was present in all embryos and in some abnor...
متن کاملAsymmetric septal hypertrophy in heterozygous cMyBP-C null mice.
OBJECTIVE Cardiac myosin-binding protein C (cMyBP-C) gene mutations are involved in familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (FHC). Many of these mutations produce truncated proteins, which are unstable in the cardiac tissue of patients, suggesting that haploinsufficiency could account for the development of the phenotype. However, existing mouse models of cMyBP-C gene mutations have represented hy...
متن کاملAsymmetric septal hypertrophy in patients on long-term hemodialysis.
Echocardiographic studies were performed in 23 hypertensive patients who were receiving therapy with long-term hemodialysis. Five patients (22 percent) had normal thickness of the left ventricular wall. Eleven (48 percent) had symmetric left ventricular hypertrophy, and seven (30 percent) showed asymmetric septal hypertrophy, with a ratio of septal to posterior wall thickness of 1.3 or greater....
